Hippokrene is a Swedish-based business run by Linda Antonsson with the help of her partner, Elio M. García, Jr. They specialize in translation and, to a lesser degree, other language-related activities such as proof-reading, though they are also able to offer web design services on a smaller scale.

As a native speaker of Swedish who has studied translation as well as English (she holds a Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, Grade A), Linda is able to handle translating complex as well as colloquial English texts into good, idiomatic Swedish. She is also able to translate from Swedish to English, and in these cases the final text is scrutinized by Elio, who is a native English speaker currently working on his Master's thesis in English. In addition to knowing English and Swedish, Elio (as a Cuban-American) also has good knowledge of Spanish, and is able to translate from Spanish to either English or Swedish. In the latter case, the text is naturally scrutinized by Linda, to ensure that it reads well to a native speaker of Swedish.
After designing for our own sites (Westeros and Hippoi Athanatoi) for several years, we have developed a keen interest in web design and web graphics, as well as a style of our own. We focus on producing fully CSS-based (no frames, and no tables unless tabular data needs to be displayed) but fairly graphics-intensive sites. We are able to incorporate (but not code from scratch) features such as javascript, SSI and PHP into a design, and we are able to install and setup a variety of perl- and PHP-based scripts. For dynamic sites we recommend ExpressionEngine (several different licenses are available, including a free version for personal use called Expression Engine Core) from pMachine, which is the system that is used to manage our own sites.
